I just got the ZTE ZMax Champ from Total Wireless and am in need of some assistance in the root process. So far I have tried to perform the adb reboot bootloader and the phone just reboots, have actually rooted the device with Kingroot but its only a temp root as it looses it upon rebooting the device. I can't tell if the bootloader is locked due to the fact I cannot boot into fastboot (if this device even supports fastboot). I have found that the phone came stock with busybox though. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have also found out that this device does not support adoptable storage or has the option to move apps to SD card. Still working on a way to keep root after reboot.

not sure if you still have device but it appears zte has the kernel as open source...not that it helps anything considering they have locked down fastboot mode. i tested kingroot as well on this device a family member has. i would suspect you've tried accessing fastboot just to find it just reboots. seems zte is adamant about crippling their carrier branded devices. i will keep looking but suspecting there is no way to access fastboot. also it seems the kingroot temp root can't even debloat device. i get failed errors trying to delete bloat apps no matter what apps i use to remove them even though kingroot and root checker says there is indeed root.

Yes I do still have this device, but I have given up on it. It's locked down tighter than fort Knox and to be honest, even if I got it unlocked and rooted, the ZTE skin is crap, the CPU can't handle much of anything without getting hot and the space is just horrible. I did read that ZTE disabled the fastboot mode to prevent people from unlocking their devices. The only one that is unlocked is the Axon, which comes that way. Thanks for the dig, though.

If you need a method for trancending an sd for more storage (options otherwise disable)

What you will need:
SD Micro
Adapter for computer

Instructions
1. Place the card in your phone and format it
2. Change options under storage to save to sd card
3. Take a picture
3. Remove card without unmounting
4. Put card in adapter and put into computer
5. Open any folder and navigate to 'this pc' folder and open it
6. Right click on SDcard and select format
7. In format window under File system select NTFS under Allocation Unit Size select 4096 press start and press yes and ok to next to pop-ups. remove the card without ejecting.
8. Put the card back in your phone
9. In notifications bar, there should be a notice saying the card is corrupted. Click notice and follow prompts to format as "internal storage".
10.Cheers now you can transcend your SD card
*** To check that it has taken Settings > Storage SD card should now have changed color. (on both of the phones I did it went from grey/black to a purplish)
**** To move apps go to setting > apps > select app. If it is able to move it will have a new button called CHANGE
